ST. LOUIS – More than 20 animals were rescued Wednesday from a home in Potosi.

The Missouri Animal Cruelty Task Force rescued 18 dogs and puppies and three cats and brought them to the Humane Society of Missouri in St. Louis.

Authorities say the animals' owner is too sick to continue caring for the animals and asked the Humane Society to take them.

Once the animals are examined and considered healthy enough, they'll be put up for adoption.
