ST. LOUIS - St. Louis is hoping to put the brakes on a new ride service that rolled into St. Louis Friday night.
The app-based service called Lyft is known for its cars with fuzzy pink mustaches. Service started at 7 p.m.
Almost anyone can become a Lyft driver if they meet a handful of requirements, including a driving test and background check. But the St. Louis Taxi Commission says the company is not properly licensed and drivers could face hundreds of dollars in fines.
The Commission says undercover officers could be posing as Lyft customers to enforce the state laws it believes applies to the service.
