O'FALLON, Ill. - A Metro East student claims she was sexually assaulted in a restroom, now her mother is suing two high schools on her behalf.
Here's why there are two high schools named. The girl says it happened at O'Fallon High School while she, her alleged attacker and other students from Freeburg High School were visiting to attend a band competition.
The girl says a male student followed her into the restroom at O'Fallon High and sexually attacked her.
The lawsuit claims the boy had a history of aggressive and sexual behavior toward other female students, but even so, was allowed to attend the competition and was allowed to continue to attend Freeburg High School after the alleged April 2013 attack.
However, the girl and her mother say she was placed on home-bound instruction, barred from campus and events and made to feel like a perpetrator, rather than a victim.
The lawsuit also names the boy, his parents, the Freeburg teacher who was the chaperone, and the principal.
