MARION, Ill. (AP) - Authorities say 11 children and two adults were sent to hospitals after an accident involving a day care bus and trash truck in southern Illinois' Williamson County.

Malone's Day Care chief executive Donna Eklund tells the (Carbondale) Southern Illinoisan that none of the injuries from the wreck about 7:15 a.m. was considered life-threatening. She says two of the children would require stitches, and that the other children were taken for treatment as a precaution.

Police say a trash truck with Southern Illinois Waste Container was making a turn when it hit the back of the bus, which then left the road. The truck overturned in a grassy area.

Bus driver Mike Peters says the children ranged in age from six weeks to 5 years old.
