ST. LOUIS – The City of St. Louis Treasurer's Office has issued a request for proposal to hire a consultant to assess St. Louis' current parking system as part of a study to assess parking options in the city.
The consultant will focus on parking prices, parking utilization, best practices, future parking meters, guidelines for permit zones, and special events. The chosen consultant will be announced in June.
"We want to provide an efficient, customer-friendly and cost effective parking operation for the City of St. Louis," said Tishaura O. Jones, treasurer of the City of St. Louis. "The parking study will be used to reform the current parking system and offer guidance as we look to implement new parking technology and modernize an outdated system."
In July a six month field test of parking technologies will end in downtown and the Central West End. New parking meters are expected to be installed beginning in fall 2014.
