WENTZVILLE, Mo. - A geography champ's getting a big show of support from his school.
Just about everyone at Wentzville Middle School showed up Friday to cheer on Evan Hensel. The eighth grader is the champion of the Missouri Geography Bee and is heading to Washington, D.C., for the national championship.
The school raised more than $2,000 to help Evan's mom make the trip with him. His Dad says in a way, that means everyone will be with him.
"He's going to D.C. with all these people. The entire school's behind him and we love him dearly and he's going to do amazing things there," said Jeffrey Hensel.
The national bee starts on May 19 and runs until the 21. The first prize includes a $50,000 college scholarship.
