ST. LOUIS COUNTY - When Missouri students return to school this fall they may find something new in their classrooms - teachers with weapons.

The state legislature passed a bill that allows specially trained teachers to carry guns in public schools.

Dr. Eric Knost, the incoming superintendent of the Rockwood School District tells says he doesn't want educators carrying guns in his hallways.

"I'd much prefer to continue down the path of having more police officers on site, in the building. Those being the folks that are trained to use guns," said Knost.

Knost says armed teachers might be more appropriate in a rural setting, where police response times might be delayed.
