ST. LOUIS (KSDK) – A puppy found with a bungee cord wrapped around his neck last week has made great strides in his recovery, according to the Humane Society of Missouri.

Wilson, who was named by the HSMO, is drinking and eating well and has started to play and show a loving personality, according to the organization.

The puppy named was found at a home near Switzer and Riverview, according to the Humane Society of Missouri.

Investigators found the puppy's head had been swollen to the size of a soccer ball and has problems swallowing and breathing due to the bungee cord. Wilson also was found underweight.

Veterinarians continue to watch for scarring and other injuries as a result of the severe swelling of his neck and head.

The Humane Society expects that Wilson will be available for adoption in the next week to 10 days after undergoing further treatment and observation.

The Humane Society of Missouri Animal Cruelty Task Force continues to investigate leads received about the case, but if anyone has any information pertaining to the case, they're asked to contact the hotline at 314-647-4400.
