UNIVERSITY CITY, Mo. - No show about the Tivoli would be complete without remembering the late John Thompson.
For 35 years, Thompson was the amazing character who took your tickets and made sure you had a good time. He loved people and was more than a doorman.
Thompson often greeted patrons by name, gave them umbrellas when it was raining, walked people to their cars if they needed help, and even put money in their parking meters.
He always wore a vest and has been called the heart and soul of the Tivoli and The Loop.
Thompson died in February at the age of 74, and the Tivoli will never be the same.
