ST. LOUIS – A St. Louis company is voluntarily recalling walnuts sold at Schnucks due to possible listeria contamination.

Sherman Produce is recalling Schnucks-brand 10 ounce trays with a UPC of 00338390032 and best by dates of 03/15 and 04/15. The walnuts were also packaged in 25 pound bulk cardboard boxes.

The walnuts were sold to stores in Missouri and Illinois for the last three months.

Sherman Produce initiated the recall after sampling by the Food and Drug Administration detected listeria monocytogenes in nuts sampled at the processing facility. No illnesses have been reported.

Anyone who purchased these walnuts should not consume them. Throw them away or contact the place of purchase for a refund.
