ST. CLAIR COUNTY, Ill. (KSDK) – East St. Louis and St. Clair County will attempt to get on the same page Wednesday about speeding tickets.
The St. Clair County State's Attorney said some of the tickets are illegal, but Mayor Alvin Parks disagrees.
Mayor Parks said when it gets worked out, people will have to pay their tickets.
East St. Louis Police have been using radar equipped with cameras to catch speeders in school and construction zones.
Last week, State's Attorney Brendan Kelly told us the tickets were illegal because there was no process for people to go to court and argue their case in front of a judge. He said people shouldn't pay the tickets.
The mayor is telling people to wait for the city and county to work out the legalities before they pay their tickets.
