HILLSBORO, Mo. - A Hillsboro school board member is outraged that the superintendent's wife was officially hired Thursday night. He claims it's nepotism and asked for both the board president and the superintendent to resign.
The board president and superintendent maintained their positions at Thursday night's board meeting. Hillsboro superintendent Aaron Cornman declined to go on camera.
The board voted to approve the hiring of his wife, Leigh Ann Cornman, as a district instructional coach.
Hillsboro School Board member Bo Harrison says this is classic example of nepotism, "It's terrible! It's a smack in the face to the people in this community."
Harrison was very outspoken in the meeting, saying this was the worst board that he's been on in 9 years, "the people in this community feel betrayed."
The board president says Cornman was one of two people hired to be an instructional coach out of about 100 people.
He denies allegations of nepotism. The school board says a hiring committee recommended Cornman.
