ST. LOUIS (KSDK) – Workers near the future site of the IKEA store found human remains Thursday morning, according to St. Louis Archdiocese.
Workers hit a concrete slab while doing prep work at Sarah and Duncan Thursday morning. Workers investigated the area for some time before finding bones.
According to the Archdiocese, this is the site of the old Rock Springs Cemetery. Calvary Cemetery moved some of those remains in 1865 and at various times throughout the decades with the most recent move in the 1980s.
Thursday afternoon, Calvary Cemetery excavated the site, bagged up the bones and put them in a Calvary Cemetery concrete container.
