EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. (KSDK) - Police are searching for the suspect who brutally shot 48-year-old Angela Heard in the head early Monday morning near her home on 15th Street and Missouri Avenue. Investigators believe she left a convenience store shortly before the shooting.

A vigil was held in Heard's honor at Lincoln Park tonight. Dozens of residents gathered to pay tribute to the aspiring artist. She was one of the youngest of 13 siblings.

Her family describes her as a giving person who loved life and forgave people easily.

They say she didn't deserve to be attacked. They believe the violence happened over a robbery.

Heard died in the hospital on Friday from her injuries. Investigators say they haven't identified a person of interest and they do not have a confirmed motive yet.

If you have any information on this murder, call police.
