ST. LOUIS – St. Louis police officers have voted to ratify their first union contract with the City of St. Louis.

Officers voted to ratify the contract by a vote of 400 to four, according to Jeff Roorda, the business manager for the St. Louis Police Officers Association.

The three-year contract covers police officers, probationary police officers, and police officer trainees. Commissioned officers with the Lambert Airport Police Department will also be covered when that department merges with the city police department within the next year.

This is the first contract since Missourians approved the city's takeover of the department. Before that, a state-appointed board of commissioners had been in charge since before the Civil War.
