ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. - It's now mandatory for Missouri schools to conduct response training in case of an active shooter or intruder. On Friday, the Parkway School District allowed our cameras inside its training session.

The training scenario: An armed gunman enters Mason Ridge Elementary.

An epidemic of school shootings has made this the new normal: school districts practicing how to react to an armed intruder.

Teachers become students, learning how to escape, how to survive, how to fight back, how to keep their students safe.

This week over 90 principals, teachers and staff are receiving the 4E, option-based training. Training they pray they will never need.

For safety reasons, there were parts of the training session we did not show in that report.
