ST. LOUIS (KSDK) – Several people will head to the Missouri Botanical Garden Monday to see a rare sight and possibly hold their nose.

The Corpse Flower bloomed Monday. The flower is described as having a smell of rotting flesh or a dead animal or really dirty socks.

The bloom happens once every two years.

People have been lined up hoping to see the flower bloom, and the garden stayed open until 2 a.m. so that people could catch a whiff of the flower.

The bloom will last between three and five days, but the smell will linger for only 24 hours.

The Missouri Botanical Garden reopens at 7 a.m. Tuesday.
