ST. LOUIS COUNTY (KSDK) – St. Louis County detectives are investigating an officer-involved shooting where a person died near Interstates 170 and 70 interchange.

A Pine Lawn police officer stopped a car from a traffic violation near I-70 and Jennings Station Road, according to St. Louis County Police. The car's license plate came up with a wanted person alert, and the car prematurely left the scene.

The officer pursued the car until it crashed at the interchange. The driver then left the car and fled on foot, according to officers. The officer caught up with the man where a struggle ensued and the officer shot the man.

Detectives continue to investigate the incident.
