ST. LOUIS (KSDK) -There's a plan in the works to bring 24/7 medical care to north St. Louis.

Developer Paul McKee plans to build a three-bed urgent care hospital at North 25th Street and Maiden Lane.

It's part of the North Side Regeneration project and is expected to cost about $1 million.

The St. Louis Health Department said the north side has one of the highest hospital admission rates, but there isn't a hospital in the city, north of Lindell Blvd.

McKee hopes to have state approval by November and start construction soon after. If all goes as planned, the urgent care would open next spring.
