RED BUD, Ill. (KSDK) - An old missile site in the metro east has a new owner.

A Smithton businessman bought the Red Bud site for $227,000 in an auction held Saturday, which is $157,000 more than the opening bid.

The site features three bunkers that actually stored missiles in the '50s and '60s.

According to the auction website, it was one of four locations around St. Louis armed with Nike Hercules Missiles.

It's unknown what the new owner plans to do with the site just yet.
