ST. LOUIS – A St. Louis judge has issued a temporary injunction barring Lyft from operating in the City of St. Louis and St. Louis County until a hearing next month.

The injunction was requested by the Metropolitan Taxicab Commission in May because they believe Lyft should be regulated like other taxi services, but Lyft argues it only accepts donations for its ride-sharing program.

Lyft must also shut down its apps, which allow users to call a ride from a pink-mustached vehicle.

The next hearing is set for Aug. 25, and a permanent injunction could be implemented.
