ST. LOUIS COUNTY – A neurosurgeon who operated on the wrong side of a woman's brain last year is leaving his job.

In April 2013 Regina Turner went to SSM St. Clare Health Center in Fenton for surgery on the left side of her brain to reduce her risk of having a stroke.

The surgery was accidentally performed on the right side of her brain, and she is now unable to speak and needs around-the-clock care.

On Wednesday, SSM announced Dr. Armond Levy's contract was not renewed. They say he wasn't fired, and the decision had nothing to do with the Turner case.
