ST. LOUIS (KSDK) – Approximately 1,500 downtown St. Louis residents sat in the dark due to an overnight power outage.

The outage, which happened before 2 a.m., ran along Jefferson Avenue between Pine and Stoddard.

According to Ameren work crews, three 30,000 volt power lines and a malfunctioning substation caused the outage.

At 6 a.m., Ameren Missouri posted via Twitter that power was close to being restored to all.
