A Kaiser man was killed in a personal watercraft crash less than an hour after he left the scene of another crash on the Lake of the Ozarks, according to the Missouri State Water Patrol.
The patrol says Gene M. Grumbois, 29, was driving a Seadoo on the lake around 9:15 p.m. when he hit the back of a pontoon. Two people on the pontoon, Ernest H. Howard, 41, and Teressa E. Underwood, 33, both of St. Charles, were taken to the hospital with moderate and minor injuries, respectively.
The report says Grumbois left the scene of the crash and 40 minutes later, crashed into a walkway connecting a dock to the shore on the Niangua River and was ejected from the Seadoo.
A coroner pronounced Grumbois dead at the scene, according to the patrol.
