SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) - A 42-year-old Missouri man has been sentenced to 13 months in federal prison for selling thousands of counterfeit DVDs he bought from a distributor in China.
Matthew Cerullo of Springfield was sentenced Wednesday after pleading guilty in October to mail fraud, trafficking in counterfeit labels, trafficking in counterfeit goods and lying to federal agents.
He also was ordered Wednesday to forfeit computers, cameras, cell phones, 15 gold coins, 240 silver coins, four baseball cards, the counterfeit DVDs and $5,300.
The federal probe began after a shipment of counterfeit DVDs from Hong Kong addressed to a UPS store in Missouri was seized at JFK Airport in New York.
Cerullo admitted that he lied to federal agents when he denied receiving shipments of DVDs from China or a seizure notice from customs.
