SUNSET HILLS, Mo. – A he said, he said debate between a cyclist and the mayor of Sunset Hills has led local authorities to hand its investigation over to the St. Louis County Police Department.

Sunset Hills Mayor Mark Furrer and avid cyclist Randy Murdick got into a confrontation Tuesday.

Furrer claims he told Murdick to obey stop signs after he says the cyclist ran one. Murdick claims Furrer told him to get off his roads.

Murdick has injuries to his leg and tailbone, and claims he was bumped by the mayor's Mercedes. But the mayor says Murdick grabbed onto his car and lost his balance.

Sunset Hills Police Chief William LaGrand says his officers have done everything right so far but are turning over the investigation.
