St. Charles Police are investigating a shooting at Blanchette Park that left one man dead.

ST. CHARLES, Mo (KSDK) -- St. Charles Police are investigating a shooting at Blanchette Park that left one man dead.

Officials were called out just before 7:00 p.m. Saturday.

Two men were involved in an argument near the picnic area and shelters 3 and 4 in the park, just across from the swimming pool.

The victim was shot and transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Witnesses say they heard a pop and say the shooter took off running. When officers arrived they began searching for a suspect with a helicopter.

The victim has been identified as Martell Crump, 24, of St. Charles.

The suspect was known to the victim and is still at large.
