STANTON, Mo. - Police say a 75-year-old Richmond Heights man died early Wednesday after driving the wrong way on Interstate 44 in Franklin County.

The Missouri Highway Patrol says Roy T. Blair of St. Louis County drove at least five miles in the highway's eastbound lanes before colliding with several other cars at about 4:30 a.m. near Stanton.

Blair's car sideswiped a vehicle that had swerved to avoid a head-on collision, but that car then hit a tractor-trailer. Blair continued and hit two more cars.

Highway Patrol Sgt. Al Nothum says Blair likely got on the highway at one of two St. Clair exits. The patrol reports that three others suffered moderate injuries.
