ST. LOUIS – The historic Mayfair Hotel will re-open next week in downtown St. Louis as Magnolia Hotel.
The hotel, named to the National Register of Historic Places 35 years ago, was purchased by Stout Street Hospitality in 2003 and closed in 2013 for renovations.
Built in 1925, Mayfair Hotel has a rich history in St. Louis. At the building's peak, its glamour and majesty welcomed Hollywood actors and even U.S. presidents.
According to a spokesperson for Magnolia Hotel, it boasts 182 rooms and includes a complimentary breakfast, evening beer and wine receptions, cookies and milk, and downtown town car transportation. It also continues the tradition of placing a chocolate on guests' pillows, which was started by actor Cary Grant in the 1950s.
Hotel tours will be given from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12.
