WOOD RIVER, Ill. - Wood River City Council voted on an agreement Monday night to allow for a marijuana cultivation plant at the EnviroTECH Business Park.

The council voted 5 to 0 to approve entering into an agreement with Largo Meds, LLC. Mayor Fred Ufert says the city could benefit economically from the business. Ufert says that only one licensee will be awarded in each of the Illinois State Police districts. He says there are other locations being looked out within ISP District 11, which includes Madison, St. Clair, Bond, Clinton and Monroe.

Ufert says the facility would be enclosed and security would be present 24 hours a day, seven days a week if the state approves the facility in Wood River.
