ST. LOUIS COUNTY – The St. Louis County NAACP is making another plea with the St. Louis community to be engaged in the pursuit of justice for 18-year-old Michael Brown, not violent.

The NAACP outlined eight steps for the St. Louis community to do as the investigation surrounding the fatal shooting of Michael Brown continues.

They include the following:

  1. Refrain from promoting violent demonstrations.
  2. Refrain from destroying infrastructures in and around St. Louis.
  3. Report any violent or police harassment to the St. Louis County NAACP.
  4. If you witnessed anything in relation to the shooting death of Michael Brown, or you have information that is of value that could be useful, please submit a message via our website at www.stlcountynaacp.org or contact the Justice Department.
  5. If you know of any police brutality incidents with the Ferguson Police Department currently and from the past, please contact us.
  6. When tweeting, posting information to Instagram, Facebook or other social media outlets, please use the hashtags #mikebrown and #blacklifematters, so that your posts can be seen nationally.
  7. If you feel that you need assistance with grieving and would like to speak to a professional, please call the St. Louis County Branch NAACP, several individuals that specialize in grief counseling are lending pro-bono service to our Branch for community residents.
  8. If you are not a registered voter, register immediately by contacting the St. Louis County Branch NAACP. The first step to being civically engaged, is voting in every election.

Monday night, the organization hosted a public meeting featuring local leaders and officials who demanded justice and fairness in the course of investigation.
