COLLINSVILLE, Ill. – The Madison County State's Attorney's Office charged two men Wednesday in connection with an armed robbery and car theft that took place earlier this month.

On Tuesday, August 12, officers with the Collinsville Police Department responded to the Northgate Housing Complex Tuesday for a report of shots being fired. The investigation led officers to the 60 block of Burlington Street where they apprehended one man on felony charges, and identified a second suspect in the Illinois Street armed robbery that occurred August 2.

Prosecutors charged 36-year-old Charlie Johnson with armed robbery, aggravated vehicular hijacking, and offenses relating to motor vehicles. He's in custody at Madison County Jail on $250,000 bond.

The second person, 42-year-old Jermaine James, was charged with unlawful possession of weapons by a felon and reckless discharge of a firearm. He's being held at Madison County Jail on $65,000 bond.
