ST. LOUIS – "A horrible coincidence," is how the Ethical Society of Police described the situation they found themselves in Friday morning following the release of the name of the Ferguson police officer who killed 18-year-old Michael Brown Saturday afternoon.
Ferguson Police Chief Thomas Jackson announced the officer is Darren Wilson. Wilson is a six year veteran of the police force and has never had disciplinary action.
But, there is more than one Darren Wilson in local law enforcement. Sergeant Darren R. Wilson, is the current president of the Ethical Society of Police and a veteran of the St. Louis Police Department of nearly two decades. He is not the same Darren Wilson of the Ferguson Police Department.
