ST. LOUIS COUNTY – Ferguson-Florissant announced that schools will be closed through Friday after continued unrest in the area and input from local law enforcement agencies.

The announcement came just after 9 p.m. on the school district's Facebook page and official district website.

The statement, released on the district's Facebook page, said the closure should allow for "peace and stability to be restored to our community and allow families to plan ahead for the additional days that children will be out of school."

This is the third delay of the start of school for Ferguson-Florissant ISD as the schools were supposed to open their doors last Thursday.

Jennings and Riverview Gardens were closed Monday as well. There is no word yet if these school districts or others plan to close through the rest of the week like Ferguson-Florissant.
