ST. LOUIS – Extra firefighters were called out to a fire at an abandoned concrete factory Friday morning because of the heat advisory in effect for the St. Louis area.

The fire started at the empty factory near Riverview Boulevard and Chain of Rocks Drive. Capt. Garon Mosby with the St. Louis Fire Department says twice the number of firefighters typically called to an abandoned structure fire were dispatched to make sure nobody gets overheated.

Mosby says the fire briefly threatened a nearby structure, but firefighters were able to get the flames under control.
