ST. LOUIS – NewsChannel 5 visited one of the several places giving children from Ferguson a place to go until school begins.

Girls, Inc. of Saint Louis decided to step up and give girls ages 5 to 17 a place to spend their final days of summer. Girls received free breakfast, lunch, and snacks and did all sorts of projects to get them ready for school and some projects just for fun.

About 75 girls participated over the last five days.

"But really, all the kids have said they love this place. They've had a great time. But want, like other kids, to be in school learning," said Cheryl Jones.

Girls, Inc. plans to offer the service until the girls start the school year. Once that happens, they'll return to their normal hours and offer after school programs.
