EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. – Gov. Pat Quinn dedicated a section of Interstate 70 in honor of a former state representative.

The section of I-70 that leads to the Stan Musial Veterans Memorial Bridge has been named Jerry F. Costello Expressway. Signs in Illinois leading to the bridge will mark the road.

"Now, every day, motorists will be reminded of the public servant who played a major role in getting the Stan Musial Veterans Memorial Bridge funded and built," Governor Quinn said. "This is a small token of gratitude from the citizens of Illinois for all the dedicated work that Jerry Costello has done for our state and nation."

Costello served as a state representative for Illinois' 12th Congressional District and previously for the 21st Congressional District from 1988 until 2013.
