ST. LOUIS COUNTY – Traffic lights at a highly trafficked area of Hanley Road will be flashing red next month as crews replace signals that were damaged two weeks ago in a vehicle accident.

David Wrone, a spokesperson for St. Louis County Departments of Highways and Traffic and Public Works, says the lights will be flashing at the intersection of Hanley Road and Interstate 64.

Between 33,000 and 39,000 drivers use Hanley Road in this area, Wrone says, and congestion is expected to be heavy.

"Drivers traveling in both directions will all each have to stop twice as they make their way across the Hanley Road overpass, and there'll inevitably be extensive delays as a result," said Wrone.

Wrone says drivers should use Big Bend or Brentwood as alternate routes.
