St. Louis, MO (KSDK) - Losing weight is always in the top ten when it comes to new year's resolutions.

So who better than offer advice than The Biggest Loser trainers. Heidi Glaus got a chance to talk to them when she was in Los Angeles.

"Number one identify your why. Why do you want to lose weight, you need a lasting source of motivation. If you have a why to live for you can tolerate how. Number two, learn how to count calories and read food labels because ultimately weight loss is an energy equation you need to eat less than you're burning a day. Number three, workout even if it's 30 minutes a day, four times a week. I don't care how you do it find something you love, find a class you enjoy, get some exercise videos used for six bucks, do what you have to do four times to five times a week and if you do those three things you will have results," explains Biggest Loser trainer Jillian Michaels.

"I really encourage people to just find something they enjoy to do and that's going to make them more inclined to keep doing it. It's the worst thing when I get people who say I know I need to lose weight, but I hate running and I say well you know what running is going to be something that you're not going to do," explains Bob Harper.

"If you can make one change, the most important change you could make is switching your bad choices to good choices. Take out the junk food, the preservatives, the candies, the sweets, the white bread, the pastas replace them with nutrition, nutritional choices," adds Dolvett Quince.
