SPRINGFIELD, Ill. - Illinois has one of the worst state pension problems in the country, but new number crunching also reveals Illinois is one of the worst states for swearing.
The Marchex Institutereached that conclusion by combing through 600,000 customer service phone calls over the last 12 months.
Ohio was the top state for swearing, but Illinois came in fifth place. Missouri also noted for cussing like sailors. The top five states for swearing overall: Ohio, Maryland, New Jersey, Louisiana and Illinois. The top five states least likely to curse? Washington, Massachusetts, Arizona, Texas and Virginia.
Among the other findings: 66 percent of the cursing was done by men. And people were more likely to curse if the call was longer than ten minutes.
