WASHINGTON PARK, Ill. - For the second time in two weeks, a Washington Park firefighter has had no help, while trying to save a house.

A lone volunteer firefighter showed up and tried to put out this fire on North 53rd street.

About an hour later some trucks from Caseyville, Camp Jackson and State Park showed up to help, but were slowed down because of a water main break.

The house is a total loss.

Last week, another firefighter was alone on a call.

Seven firefighters were laid-off last year. Now there is only one paid firefighter in Washington Park; the rest are volunteers
