COLLINSVILLE, Ill. - The Madison County State's Attorney's Office charged a 20-year-old southeast Illinois man for allegedly stealing a car at gunpoint last week.

According to Lt. Todd Link, spokesman for the Collinsville Police Department, officers responded to an armed robbery and car theft in the 700 block of Illinois Avenue around 6:15 a.m. on Saturday, August 2.

The victim told police she saw two men walking in the area when one of them approached her, displayed a firearm, and demanded her keys, money, and cellphone. The men drove off and the victim was left unharmed, Link said.

Following a brief investigation, authorities identified and apprehended a suspect – Johnny Glover of Madison, Illinois.

Glover was charged with armed robbery, aggravated vehicular hijacking, and other motor vehicle offenses. He's in custody at the St. Louis City Justice Center on unrelated felony charges. His bond was set at $250,000 for these allegations.
