(NBC) -- Forecasters say there's a strong possibility more severe storms will fire up again this evening in the MidAtlantic and Southeast.

The region is still reeling from weekend weather that left millions in the dark and 18 others dead.

The latest victims lost their lives late Sunday afternoon in eastern North Carolina.

A couple in a golf cart couldn't get to shelter fast enough.

They were killed when a tree fell on them.

Nearly two million households remain without power as utility workers scramble to rebuilt a shattered power grid.

Some areas may not see power restored until Friday.
