SEATTLE, Wash. (KING) - Seattle police say they have located a sexually violent predator from Canada who crossed into the U.S. last week after allegedly cutting off his GPS monitoring device.

But, they say they are unable to arrest him.

Michael Sean Stanley, 48, left Edmonton, Alberta and crossed into the U.S. at Blaine, Washington on October 7.

Seattle police say they received information that Stanley might be in the Seattle area and they located him Thursday morning with the help of U.S. Marshals.

Canadian police have declined to extradite Stanley and Seattle police said they have not received any information that Stanley has committed any crimes in the U.S., so they are unable to arrest him at this time.
