WINONA, Minn. - Minnesota authorities are trying to determine how a car got to the bottom of the Mississippi River.

The car was spotted when dive teams from Winona, Rochester and La Crosse Counties were having a training session near the town of Winona.

Winona County Sheriff Dave Brand says the vehicle is a Ford Model T.

It's currently under about 20 feet of water.

Bruce's Legacy Director and Founder Keith Cormican said that he was demonstrating his sonar system when the discovery was made on October 9.

"It's extremely unusual. Unfortunately you know people want to get rid of things, they tend to put them in the water, run vehicles in the water to hide evidence for various reasons," said Cormican.
