MESA, Ariz. (KPNX) - Claudia Ann Lucero's friends say she was a popular, talkative 14-year-old girl who got good grades, enjoyed hip-hop and was a loyal, caring person.

By all accounts, Lucero, a freshman at Mesa, Arizona's Westwood High School, looked forward to a bright future.

After police identified Lucero as the teen whose body was found Friday in an apartment-complex dumpster, her friends responded with disbelief and anguish, and tears fell in streaks down her aunt's face.

"It's hard for me to talk," Margaret Lucero said Monday, hours after learning that her niece had been killed.
