GYEONGJU, South Korea - A ceiling of an auditorium in South Korea collapsed Monday night, killing four people and trapping at least 50 others, South Korean media outlets reported.

More than 500 college students were in a building in the southern city of Gyeongju for a freshman welcome party when the collapse happened at 9:16 p.m., South Korea's semiofficial Yonhap news agency reported, citing police. Details about what led to the collapse weren't immediately available.

CNN affiliate YTN reported that four people died, citing police officials, and that a rescue operation was under way. At least 50 other people were trapped, Yonhap reported.
