GOLDEN GATE ESTATES, Fla. (WBBH) - Fast asleep overnight Saturday, a Golden Gate, Florida family was jolted awake.

"We heard a big boom sound. My husband got up, ran to my kids' room," said mother Janet Gonzalez.

Gonzalez said the family grabbed baseball bats and ran downstairs to investigate.

Nobody could find the culprit. The family thought they had checked everywhere, but the intruder was hiding the entire time in the downstairs bathroom.

"We were all in the living room and we heard a noise. That's when we realized, has someone checked the bathroom?" Gonzalez said.

She ran outside to get deputies who arrested suspect Manuel Rodriguez immediately. They said the 21-year-old didn't have any weapons. What they did find on him brought Gonzalez and her husband to tears.

"He had my little girl's panties in his pockets and one on the sink," said Gonzalez. "To me only a sick, perverted person would do that."
