TAMPA, Fla. - An 8-year-old Florida girl got an up-close lesson in the birds and the bees after she helped her mom deliver her new baby brother.
All births are memorable, but Joseph James Snyder's birth became a family affair.
"I was in the bathroom and my water broke and I yelled for her, 'Jazmine, grab the cordless phone. Dial 911,'" said Krystle Garcia.
Eight-year-old Jazmine McEnaney called at 7:02 a.m.
"My mom is pregnant and her water just broke," said Jazmine.
"I was freaking out. I am like, 'I am home with my 8-year-old daughter,' you know. Even if I called somebody they are not going to come quick enough. It was, it happened so fast," said Krystle.
Two weeks early, all five pounds 10 ounces of little joseph couldn't wait. Just 13 minutes after that 911 call by Jazmine started, and before the paramedics could arrive, Joseph made his appearance.
"It was like, kind of hard," said Jazmine.
"She definitely stayed calm when she needed to, especially, I was hysterical," said Krystle.
And big sister helped her little brother by bringing him into the world.
