DARIEN LAKE, N.Y. - Daredevil Nik Wallenda thrilled the crowd once again today with one of his high wire performances as he rode a motorcycle on the wire over the lake at the Genesee County amusement park with two performers riding underneath.
Wallenda used this stunt to help generate attention and publicity for his three month run of performances at Darien Lake. They begin on June 24th and run through September 1st at the newly named Nik Wallenda Theater at the complex. Wallenda says his wife, mother, children, and other family members and performers with his company will also take part in the summer series of shows.
Wallenda is best known for his June 2012 walk over Niagara Falls which was nationally televised. He says he still loves Western New York and there have been discussions about setting up a permanent attraction centered on his tightrope walking performances and stunt at the Falls.
Wallenda says he is also planning an event for Chicago involving skyscrapers which will be featured in a Discovery Channel special. Last year he performed a wire walk over a portion of the Grand Canyon.
